I have suffered from anxiety and depression for years. Through a lot of work and many, many tools, I have learned to manage both.
A few of my tried and true tools:
- Morning meditation
- Gratitude journal
- Taking 15 minutes in the early evening to plan the following day, hour by hour
- Podcasts (Mel Robbins is my current favorite)
- Daily movement
- Medication and talk therapy
- Evening wind down routine
- No alcohol (see my page on alcohol-free living)
I am also a firm believer in personal development work — I constantly read about ways to decrease anxiety and depression naturally, and how to become more efficient and effective in life. Some of my favorite books:
- The Mindful Way Through Depression by Mark Williams
- Atomic Habits by James Clear
- The High Five Habit and The Five Second Rule by Mel Robbins
- Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
- The Little Book of Big Change by Amy Johnson
- The Mayo Clinic Guide to Stress-Free Living by Amit Sood
- Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
